only advice i can give, is on my fiat ducato 2.5d. the engine sensor is on the right of cylinder head, under the the thermostat, where top coolant pipe goes in . i changed both sensor and thermostat at the same time, total cost of parts was approx £50. all was fine and temp gauge stopped fluctating. from low to high and vice versa. Hi there JohnandBeauty. Shingy was right about my cooling fan problem. I checked the wiring at both ends and it seemed alright. The sensor at the bottom of the radiator was the problem. It was somewhat corroded.My garage managed to get hold of one and put it in.Working fine now. Cost £60 including having radiator drained and new coolant put in.

To finf the housing follow the upper hose from the radiator, to where it connects to the engine. I do appreciate that this may be difficult in modern engines.
