Light and smooth hikers As the name suggests, the Hoka One One Speedgoat Mid GTX 2 has the heart of the Speedgoat 4 GTX, which I recently reviewed. Those shoes are remarkably-comfortable, light and stable. Plus, they have Gore-Tex for added weather protection. All of that is true, and more with the Speedgoat Mid GTX 2.

Bottom-line for Altra Lone Peak 6.0 vs Hoka Speedgoat 5. Hoka Speed Goat 5 is extremely comfortable and protective compared to the Altra Lone Peak 6. On the other hand, the Altra Lone Peak 6 is more responsive and stable. If you are looking for a long-distance trail running shoe the Altra Lone Peak 6 is better than the Hoka Speedgoat 5.

Even with its higher bed of cushion, the TenNine Hike has a mere 4mm heel-to-toe drop, the same as found in Hoka’s Speedgoat 4 and Speedgoat Mid 2 GTX and other models. That’s somewhat minimal but has always felt good for me, as a hiker and runner who has never found that zero-drop active footwear suit my feet.
