I have tried: -updating drivers (graphics card drivers) -reinstalling the game (currently only have zombies and zombie chronicles installed) -verifying the game files. -confuring the config.ini file in the players map (which was missing at first) -running both steam and the game as administrator. -running the game in developer mode.

If you look in the top right corner you will see a number that's something like 33.0.0.0 you just have to wait somewhat under a minute until the number changes and you should be able to go online.
