Smooth Sailing: Helsinki-Tallinn-Helsinki. Took the Tallink Silja line for my day trip to Tallinn from Helsinki. Was on the Star ship on the way to Tallinn and the newer Megastar ship on the way back to Helsinki. Both were smooth sailing, but I preferred the much newer Megastar as it had much cooler amenities.
On the night departure better to have a cabin and sleep some, although the entertainment is nonstop. There are restaurants, buffet and snack bars. And tax free shopping. You have a day to spend in Stockholm, and return in the evening to Helsinki arriving next morning. Stockholm is big with many sights, you can reserve hotel package and see more.
